Letters received from British artists, including Sir Oswald Walters Brierly (1886), Myles Birket Foster (1892, 1897), and Alfred William Hunt (1892). The letters relate to contributions of drawings and photographs for paintings to the Society's catalogs of its summer exhibitions. Also included are two contracts (1887) in which John Parker and Herbert Menzies Marshall agree to submit drawings for that year's catalog; and five items of miscellaneous correspondence relating to the the Society (ca. 1889-1890).

Myles Birket Foster was a popular Victorian-era illustrator and watercolor painter, noted for his technical proficiency and rustic scenes. First apprenticed to a wood engraver, he later worked as an illustrator for books and periodicals before successfully publishing books of his own illustrations.
